Five more arrested in Opelika citywide drug crackdown

OPELIKA, AL - Five more people have been arrested in a drug investigation that's been going on for months.

Opelika Police arrested these individuals Thursday.

·         George Ralph Brummitt, age 66 of Opelika, was arrested (6:14 AM) in the 300 block of South 4th Street and charged with two counts of Unlawful Distribution of Controlled Substances. He was transported to the Lee County Detention Facility.

·         Christine Mitchell, age 50 of Opelika, was arrested (9:45 AM) on Crawford Road at Marvin Parkway and charged with Unlawful Distribution of Controlled Substances. She was transported to the Lee County Detention Facility.

·         Jamecia Westerica Carr, age 23 of Opelika, was arrested (11:15 AM) in the 500 block of Raintree Street and charged with two counts of Unlawful Distribution of Controlled Substances. She was transported to the Lee County Detention Facility.

·         Deon Montae Mitchell, age 32 of Opelika, was arrested (4:07 PM) in the 500 block of South 10th Street and charged with two counts of Unlawful Distribution of Controlled Substances. He was transported to the Lee County Detention Facility.

·         Demetries Lemon Frazier, age 30 of Opelika, was arrested (7:22 PM) in the 500 block of North Antioch Circle and charged with Unlawful Distribution of Controlled Substances. He was transported to the Lee County Detention Facility.

Opelika Police have been conducting an operation into the sale of illegal narcotics over the past several months.

The operation came to a head today when they arrested 13 individuals.

They teamed up with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, the Auburn Police Department, and the Alabama Bureau of Investigations to make the arrests.

All of the listed individuals were arrested Wednesday, Feb. 13 and have been taken to the Lee County Detention Facility. Below is a list of those arrested and their charges.

·         Andrew James Barnett, age 26 of Opelika, was arrested in the 300 block of Pleasant Circle and charged with Unlawful Distribution of Controlled Substances.

·         Gregski Lamar Ross, age 26 of Opelika, was arrested in the 3500 block of Dale Avenue and charged with Unlawful Distribution of Controlled Substances.

·         Grady Scott Melton, age 29 of Opelika, was arrested in the 1900 block of Frederick Road and charged with Unlawful Possession or Receipt of Controlled Substances.

·         Tiffany Nicole Johnson, age 41 of Opelika, was arrested in the 300 block of Pleasant Circle and charged with Unlawful Distribution of Controlled Substances.

·         Schernaries Shunta Love, age 24 of Opelika, was arrested in the 1300 block of South Long Street and charged with Unlawful Distribution of Controlled Substances.

·         Betty Anette Allen, age 48 of Opelika, was arrested in the 300 block of Pleasant Circle and charged with Unlawful Distribution of Controlled Substances.

·         Ashley Dawn Hodges, age 21 of Opelika, was arrested in the 0-100 block of Lee Road 63 and charged with Unlawful Manufacture of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree and Unlawful Possession or Receipt of Controlled Substances.

·         Cynthia Avery, age 55 of Opelika, was arrested in the 300 block of South Third Street and charged with Unlawful Distribution of Controlled Substances.

·         Marktivus Delleal Robinson, age 32 of Opelika, was arrested in the 400 block of South Third Street and charged with Unlawful Distribution of Controlled Substances.

·         Paulette Taylor, age 43 of Opelika, was arrested in the 300 block of South Fourth Street and charged with two counts of Unlawful Distribution of Controlled Substances.

·         Gregory Grady, age 52 of Opelika, was arrested in the 300 block of Avenue B and charged with two counts of Unlawful Distribution of Controlled Substances.

·         Montay Decorlos Hodge, age 38 of Opelika, was arrested in the 1900 block of Frederick Road and charged with two counts of Unlawful Distribution of Controlled Substances.

·         John Lewis Frederick, age 26 of Opelika, was arrested in the 1900 block of Marvyn Parkway and charged with two counts of Unlawful Distribution of Controlled Substances.

Unlawful Distribution of Controlled Substances is a Class B Felony, punishable by 2 to 20 years in prison and a fine of not more than $30,000. Unlawful Manufacture of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree is a Class B Felony, punishable by 2 to 20 years in prison and a fine of not more than $30,000. Unlawful Possession or Receipt of Controlled Substances is a Class C Felony, punishable by 1 to 10 years in prison and a fine of not more than $15,000.
