OPELIKA, AL - Opelika Police are looking for a suspect who tried to murder a man at a local hotel Sunday evening. 

Officeres responded to the Knight's Inn on Columbus Pkwy. around 6:56 p.m. on Feb. 3. 

When they got to the hotel, officers found a man lying on the sidewalk outside one of the rooms with a gunshot wound.

Several witnesses reported hearing an argument and then a single gunshot. 

The victim, a 27 year-old Opelika man, was treated on scene and later flown to Columbus Regional Medical Center where he is currently in critical condition.

Police have developed a suspect in the case and he is wanted for questioning. 

Aleecia Monique Pitts, age 21 of Auburn, is described as being approximately 5’6” tall and weighing about 143 pounds. She was last seen wearing dark clothing and was last seen on foot in the area of Knight’s Inn.

It is believed a handgun was used in the crime and it is unknown at this time if Pitts is armed.
