OPELIKA, AL - A visit to a friend's house ended with one man in the hospital.

The victim of an assault was visiting his friend in the 1000 block of Samford Court on Nov. 12 around 9:30 p.m.

Police say the victim saw someone he knew beating on the window of the residence while yelling at him.

He thought it was a good time to leave, but as he went outside the man beat him over the head with an unknown object.

The two men started to fight, but the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim several tims in the shoulder then ran away.

The victim, a 28-year-old Lafayette man, was taken to the East Alabama Medical Center. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The victim knows who the suspect is and police are still investigating.
